This Kalmar Container Lift is used to move shipping containers. On this particular machine, the ball bushing in the end of one of the Main Lift Cylinders failed. This in turn caused the cylinder mount pin to turn which damaged the bore. The solution was to weld up the bore and re-machine. Tolerances on this bore were +.000 -.0005. To be able to hold such tight tolerances, we first bored to under the finish size. Then we honed to the finished size.
